Version 0.3 – movement update and animations


A new update!

Main changes

Movement is now 8-directional

I used to dislike 8-dir, because of its asymetry. But now I find that it feels way more fluid. It is easier to escape but also more enemies can attack you at the same time.

The game is quite a bit harder because of that.

We can’t wait anymore

OnWait was too powerful and consistant, and I don’t find waiting an interesting line of play.

The main use to waiting was to gain first-attack advantage. But now that it is possible with 8-dir movement, waiting isn’t useful anymore.

Animations!

They are very light, don’t worry. It’s only the characters moving a bit. But it makes the game so much more readable!

And more

Fixes, a couple new genes, and other UI improvements…

Plans for the future

Until now, I’ve done a lot of UI polishing. But now I would like to work on making it a real game, rather than a tech demo made during a jam.

Hence, the next updates should be more gameplay/content-oriented
